Our volunteers have a mantra that we strongly believe in: “Leave No Trace”. Since we do not want to attract negative attention towards the colony, not only do our volunteers pick up the paper plates left from the previous feeding, we also go the extra mile and pick up litter left by patrons of the gardens and the library grounds. We are always making sure to leave the grounds better than we found it.

Almost all of the Library Cats were born on the Library grounds, we know about 1 or 2 that have been dumped by humans.

Yes, with the help of community allies and volunteers, 99% of the Library Cats have been spayed or neutered and vaccinated. Some of them are microchipped as well.

There have been a few reports from Library employees that there have been feral cats living at the library for at least 25 years.

About 20, the colony has maintained its size for the past 4 years, and due to TNR efforts, we are very close to our goal of 100% sterilized.

Due to our dedication towards TNR, there have only been 2 litters in the past 4 years. One litter was rescued along with the momma cat. We were lucky to find forever homes for the momma cat and her 5 kittens. We keep tabs on all the female cats to make sure there are no pregnancies and have been successful in trapping young females before any more litters are born.

We do have a voicemail for messages, but email is the fastest way we communicate. Our email address is val@librarycats.org
